Kulongoski, Potter and entourage off to the Big Easy
It’s off to New Orleans for Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski, Portland Mayor Tom Potter and an all-star cast of civic do-gooders who plan to spend three days rubbing elbows with their counterparts and lending a hand with the post-Katrina cleanup.

All Oregon school children, grades one through 12, are encouraged to enter the 58th “Be Kind to Animals” poster and photo essay contest. Deadline for entries is April 2. Detailed entry information is available at www.oregonhumane.org/kidsandteens/contest.htm. Each grade has a specific theme.

Public’s help sought in sex assault case
Louisville Metro Police detectives are trying to locate a woman they describe as a key witness in a pending sexual assault case. The Special Victims Unit says Nichole Reed, who has no permanent address, has information about an assault that occurred about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 25 in the 1800 block of Oregon Avenue. Police ask anyone with information about her whereabouts to call 574-LMPD.
