Mid-level sub-tropical moisture will continue to spread into Southern California today.
Expect a chance for thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts from early afternoon
through the evening. Although most activity will be limited to the higher terrain,
isolated storms may also form over the Inland Empire.

Scattered thunderstorms will develop and move across Siskiyou Co., the Cascade and
Siskiyou Mountains, and the East Side this afternoon into this evening. Wind gusts to 40
mph are possible in any storm. In addition, grasses and small brush are dry and may catch
on fire from any lightning strike. As a result, a Red Flag Warning is in effect across
this area. Remember, when thunder roars, it is time to head indoors!

Monsoonal Moisture being advected from the Southwest U.S will produce isolated
Thunderstorms over the desert and Sierra Nevada this weekend. Some clouds will drift over
the San Joaquin valley as well, lowering the high temperatures a few degrees.

There will be increasing monsoonal moisture pushing into the Southern California Mountains
and deserts this weekend. There could be an isolated thunderstorm developing across the
Los Angeles and Ventura County Mountains this afternoon
but best chances will occur over
the weekend
especially on Sunday where there could be local flooding around the Lockwood
Valley area affecting low-lying roadways near rivers and creeks as well as the Big Rock
and Littlerock Creeks runoff from the San Gabriel Mountains into the Antelope Valley. If
you encounter high waters while in your vehicle. Turn Around Dont Drown. There will
be an increased discomfort this weekend due to the higher humidity expected across the
interior valleys, mountains and the Antelope Valley. Thunderstorm activity should come to
an end early next week.

Gale force northerly winds will continue over the outer waters between 10 and 60 miles off
the coast through Saturday. Wind gusts over 40 knots and short period, wind driven seas
between 13 and 15 feet can be expected. Low clouds and fog will be possible each night
and morning near the coast through the weekend. Additionally, on Friday and Saturday
afternoons isolated thunderstorms are possible over the Yolla Bolly and Trinity Alps.

High pressure near the Four Corners area and Low Pressure off the coast will set up late
Thursday. This pattern will last into the weekend and bring moist south to southeast
flow across the region.
Moisture from the monsoon will be brought northward fueling thunderstorms across the
region. Storms will begin across Mono and Mineral Counties Thursday, then spread
northward to the Oregon border this weekend.
